Tasty Tuesday

A red carpet for volunteers
Church fellowships are seldom without food.  Friday night was no exception. On the perimeter of the gym, tables of food were available to guests.  During the course of the evening, volunteers were treated to appetizers, pizza, spaghetti, pulled pork, ribs, tossed salads, vegetables, tamales, lavish fruit and vegetable trays, and desserts.

While the food was a part of the event, it was not the purpose of the event. This evening was designed to honor and thank church volunteers.  Who are the volunteers? Here is a short list of the volunteers: van drivers, people who deliver meals to sick and homebound, teachers, ushers, deacons, trustees, receptionists, parking lot attendants, and others.

Looking around the gym, I am filled with wonder and joy.  So many stories… young members, new church members, seasoned volunteers, cancer survivors, vibrant healthy members, people who are struggling with silent health issues, Black,  Hispanic, and White.

I did not eat much. Yet, I was full.
