Monday Musings ...

Years ago, I remember, standing in line to have Naomi Judd sign a copy of her book, Love Can Build a Bridge.  It was a sweet moment to have a short conversation with her. I asked her to sign two copies, one for the program where I served as director, the Williamson County Family Resource Center, and a personal copy.

I’m sure that many other people  in line  at the bookstore may remember that moment as well. We were smiling and chatting as we waited to receive our autographed copy of her book.

Living in Tennessee, I would often see celebrities shopping, eating at local restaurants, or at church. I trust many of her fans remember a concert they attended, listened to one of her favorite songs on the radio and have fond memories of what her life meant to them. Looking at this picture of her, I am reminded of her beauty. I imagine many of her fans were shocked by her recent death.

Wealth, celebrity status, good looks, all these things will not make us immune to depression or mental illness. This month is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.  I encourage you to take a moment become more informed.  It is important to stay in touch with our family who may be suffering silently. Be available.

Thrifty Thursday

Look at this little watering can I purchased at a friend's garage sale.

I was so excited to get this little can home. After doing research on how to clean copper, I  got busy cleaning.  What do you think of the after picture? I purchased several small pieces. I will share more before and after pictures. I will be giving some pieces as gifts.  Do you love finding bargains at garage sales? I do!

... up in the same bundle.

"Faith and works are bound up in the same bundle. He that obeys God trusts God; and he that trusts God obeys God. He that is without faith is without works; and he that is without works is without faith."

Pepper

This week's pet, Pepper can  be a little spicy. Why?  Well, Pepper tried to bite the groomer after he was so well-behaved while he was getting a bath. Once, the clippers came out... Pepper said... HEY! Wait a minute. Then, Pepper snapped and tried to bite the groomer.

Pepper is getting adjusted to Indiana. Pepper moved to Indiana in February. Prior to moving to Indiana, he was born and raised in Texas.

Tasty Tuesday ... Tiramisu

Exactly what is Tiramisu?  The word Tiramisu  in Italian  literally means "pick me up" or "cheer me up". Traditionally, Tiramisu is served as dessert at the end of the meal.

According to one online description of this dessert, there a delicate balance between each of the ingredients.  I encourage you to take a moment and read some interesting  online facts about this popular Italian dessert.

Last week, I enjoyed this dessert to celebrate a belated birthday with a dear friend.  The server noticed a small package... she correctly notice we were having a celebration...  This dessert was a sweet ending to a lovely lunch with a friend.

Monday Musings ...

"People find answers to the big questions of life when they study to God's Word together." Tonight, I joined  with women in our community to study God's Word this year in the BSF Study, Kingdom Divided.  I look forward with anticipation to see how God will change my life as I apply His truth to my life.

Women and men from all over the world will begin this study this week.  I am excited about his year's study. I find great comfort and peace as I anchor my life in the Word of God.

Our help is ...

"If the Lord had not been on our

side -

let Israel  say

if the Lord not been on our side

when men attacked us,

when their anger flared against us,

they would have swallowed us

alive;

the flood would have engulfed us,

the torrent would have swept

over us,

the raging waters

would have swept us away.

Praise be to the Lord,

who has not let us be torn by

their teeth.

We have escaped like a bird

out of the fowler's snare;

the snare has been broken,

and we have escaped.

Our help is in the name of the

Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 124: 1-9

Charlie

Charlie is this week's pet. He is resting comfortably as his owner assists customers in her boutique.

Charlie was adopted  from a nearby city known as the "Gateway to the South". My friend was  at the front of the line when five other potential owners wanted to adopt Charlie.  She was very fortunate to get this amazing dog.

He has a wonderful kind disposition.  As a matter of fact, I didn't  know Charlie was in the store until,  I went to pay for purchases.

This is just one of the adorable dresses that she has in stock. What is available in her store? Everything you need to go to a football or basketball game, work, a girls night out, date night, business lunch, Zoom meeting,  or to church.

What is the meaning of the word, boutique?  a small store selling fashionable clothes or accessories. This store is  definitely  a boutique. 👗💖

Friendship Friday

Some friendships pass the mark of time. Those friendships may be dormant for a time then there is a time  when we reconnect. Real authentic friendships  are evident  when they are founded on faith, mutual respect, interests, and affection. As we grow older and illness or distance separate us, we hold dear in person visits.

Remembering old times and making new memories. 💖

True beauty

"People are like stained glass windows.

They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,

but when the darkness sets in

their true beauty is revealed

only if there is light within."

Friendship Friday

Mary Oliver, the poet poses a question at the end of her  poem, The Summer Day, "Tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Take a moment and listen to Mary Oliver read her poem on You Tube. Her reading lasts for less than two minutes. Indeed, poems are meant to be recited.  It is glorious.

Angela, my friend,  lived a wonderful and precious life.  I think her life is an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Why? Her faith in God, her love of her husband, children, and granddaughter. In addition, she cherished  her church family, friends, neighbors and her community.

Whether she was teaching a Bible Study, cooking, crafting,  attending book discussion, traveling, hosting Mah Jongg games at her home, or praying for her family and friends... she took  her commitments seriously.

Yes... she lived a wonderful and precious life. When I heard she went to be with the Lord, I found it difficult to be sad. She is with our Lord and Savior. We will miss her. Her memory is blessing. Pray God will comfort her family and friends.

So the question is, "Tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Welcome September

 "The windows are open,

admitting the September breeze:

a month that smells like

notepaper and pencil shavings,

autumn leaves and car oil.

A month that smells like

progress, like moving on. "
