Monday Musings

"I remember hearing that you will be most like the 5 people you surround yourself with. You will be closest to them in education, financial status, and outlook in life. So if you want to improve yourself, improve the people you're around. " Kim Hodous

I am grateful for an amazing circle of friends in my life. In my exercise class, strong women surround me.  Every week, they rock it out.  In addition to a water fitness class, they are members of yoga and weight lifting classes.

I am a struggling cook. Yet, I surround myself with true gourmet cooks. They share tips, recipes, and suggestions. It is always great to have a supportive group of friends who encourage and don't judge.

My BSF friends are an group of extraordinary women.  Every week,  supportive and strong women surround me.  We cry, laugh, encourage, and pray.

Sunday Scripture

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus answered, “Neither this man or his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who send Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long I am in the world, I am the light of world. “
John 9: 1 -5 ( NKJV)

Pet of the week, Sooki

Pet of the week goes International!  My BFF Gail has recently returned from Europe. Gail and a friend traveled to Holland and Great Britain.  Well, she took picture of the lovely pug in London!

Special thanks to Gail for taking the pictures and sharing the information. "The woman told us Sooki was a friendly dog that everyone loved. The breed is believed to have come from China, brought to England after the British overran the Chinese Imperial Palace in 1860.    These small dogs are good natured, energetic, playful, and suitable companions for all families."

Beau and Mocha live in the neighborhood. I was able to take their picture at last Saturday's Neighborhood Garage Sale. These sweet dogs are Pembroke Welsh Corgies. This breed is know for their sweet personalities. In addition, they are very energetic.
One interesting piece of folklore about the Pembroke Welsh Corgie ... Welsh ... "The corgi is the preferred mount of tiny woodland fairy warriors. "

Growing in tough places

Growing in tough places. I am surprised by what I have discovered in some tough places.

This morning I saw a tiny tomato plant growing in the parking lot of Panera. This solitary plant is growing next to a light post surrounded by asphalt.  In spite of a less than ideal growing condition, this little plant has one itsy bitsy tomato.  Not only is it growing, it is bearing fruit.

In the midst of a myriad of challenges, I thank God that we can grow in tough places. It is our character that grows.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know who dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our heart with his love.”
Romans 5: 3_5 (NLT)

... keep the needy safe

“Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan
I will arise, says the Lord.
I will protect them from those who malign them.”
And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times.
You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race. “

Psalm 12 : 5 – 8 ( NIV)
