Monday Musings ...

This time last year, we were hunkered down in our homes. The fabric of our daily lives began to unravel. We were trying to hold it together.  We were swamped by bad news. We prayed. We trusted God. We attended worship services via Zoom. We ordered groceries on line, watched movies online, and  prayed over Zoom.

If that was not enough, we were in the midst of civil unrest.  Words are inadequate to describe the all of the events of last year.

Now

Our lives are slowly beginning to adapt to a difference pace. This evening, I attended a class in an outdoor pool.  It was glorious. I love this quote. "Stress is Water Soluble." 😎💧
It is beginning to feel like summer.

Regardless of the feelings... we cannot stop praying.

Praise

"Praise the LORD, my soul.

LORD my God you are very great;

you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment,

he stretches out the heavens like a tent

and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.

He makes the clouds his chariot

and rides on the wings of his messengers,

flames of fire his servants."

Psalm 104: 1 - 4

Sophie

"Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love. They depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog, it merely expands the heart."

Sophie is a this week's pet of the week. She enjoys walks in the park, treats, and enjoys cuddling with her owner.

Friendship Friday

"There is no expiration date on true friendships. There is a growing sense of appreciation and dedication." me

I trust you have friends that are loyal and true. I'm very grateful for "B". Over the past decade, we have taught ESL classes together, taken a road trip to see Bob Dylan, were roomies at Shaker Town, chatted while we had pedicures,  enjoyed lunches, dinners, and many acts of friendships. She gives great advice and most importantly, she is an excellent listener.

So here is to my friend, B.

Monday Musings...

It has been fifteen months since, I worshiped in person at our church. Yesterday afternoon, our church members gathered to  honor for our pastor and family for serving  twenty-five years at this  congregation.

It was a afternoon full of music, snow cones slurping, pizza eating, neck hugging, laughter, dancing,  picture-taking, reminiscing, gift giving, and just plain fun. Maybe it was the fact that we have not seen each other in person for over a year that the celebration was so sweet. Or, maybe it was because most of us are fully vaccinated.

At the core of the event, we were celebrating the goodness of our God.  We honored our pastor for his faithful service to this congregation. We were filled with joy to reflect how God has protected us through a very difficult year.

Monday Musings... conversations

"The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment." Dorothy Nevil

In today's political climate we often find ourselves unable to have civil conversations with people who have differing opinions.  Are you interested in being a part of conversation that helps bring connection instead of division? This weekend may be of interest to you. Here is an opportunity to connect with people who have different opinions.

June 12 - 13 is an innovative project called America Talks. It's described as, "A Weekend of Connection in the Midst of Deep Division.  The Media Partners are USA Today, USA Today Network, yahoo!news, AllSides, TheFulcrom, witf Live Inspired.  American Talks has a goal of at least 10,000 participants.

If you are interested visit the America Talk Sign Up Page.

I like what Max Weiss stated: "Let conversation flow at its own pace. Don't try to rush it or control it. You need to let go and be a part of the conversation."

Truth and Taxes

 Interesting facts...

  • Pay taxes on your  wages
  • Pay sales tax
  • Pay income tax on money that was already taxed
  • When someone dies the children pay taxes on money already taxed.

Where do you go to find reliable tax information ?
