May the LORD

May the LORD answer you when you
are in distress;
may the name of the God of
Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the
sanctuary
and grant you support from
Zion.
May he remember all your
sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your
heart
and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy when you are
victorious
and will lift up our banners
in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
Now this I know:
The LORD gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
But we rise up and stand firm.
LORD, give victory to the king!
Answer us when we call!
Psalm 20: 1 – 9 (NIV)

Magnolia blossom, sweet tea, and a rocking chair

"The magnolia tree out front is showing off dinner-plate size blossoms. Pair that with sweet tea humidity and a mockingbird choir and you can bet your creaky rocking chair you are in the South."

Juneteenth

Today is Juneteenth. It is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Today, people may be experiencing different types of bondage.
Yes, people still endure slavery. Here are a few examples,  sex trafficking, gambling, drugs and so goes the list. Praying that they will experience  true freedom in God.
Fredrick Douglass described himself as a "graduate" of slavery
with the marks of his diploma on his back.
This sculpture is located in Rochester, New York.
At the National Susan B. Anthony Museum and Home
I visited this museum in 2013.

This sculpture represents the friendship between Fredrick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony

Tasty Tuesday ... snacks... and so much more.

If it is the first Wednesday of the month, I play Mah Jongg. In addition, I also play on Tuesday and Thursday. Over the past several years, I have developed a love for this ancient tile game. Do you play? If you do, I'm sure you enjoy the game and most importantly the people.

I have also developed an appreciation for the little snacks that are a offered at each game. Today, our hostess offered a lovely selection of food.

On one plate,  you see our hostess provided cheese, crackers,  and salami. You also see a plate of  chocolate chip cookies. Do you see the bowl of strawberries?
Wait, there were more snacks! On our table, we had goldfish, pistachio nuts, and MM's. For beverages, Bonnie offered, hot and cold tea, and water.

WOW! 😃 So much food!

I think you might be interested in learning more about snacks and Mah Jongg Snacks. I suggest you go to this site. The Nosher.   This site has so much information not just about The History of Mah Jongg Snacks. It is a site devoted to Jewish Learning.  It includes everything related to Jewish Learning.

This is a lovely site. If you are not Jewish, I think you will enjoy learning about the religion and so much more.

Pets of the week, Elvis and Chewy

Last week, you met Elvis and Chewy. This week, you will see how they enjoyed their winter. Vacationing in Galveston, Texas! 😀  Who needs sand in their paws? Not this two pampered pooches. Special thanks to Erin for sharing this picture. Erin's husband is pushing the stroller!

Friendship Friday

"Friends are those rare people
who ask how we are and
then wait to hear the
answer."
Ed Cunningham

The friendship of Buckley and Stu began in an exercise class, now it extends outside  class. I appreciate that "B" is intentional about staying connected to members in the class. I wonder does he realizes how the helps create community in our class? On most days, he connects and talks to almost every person in class.

When people are missing is class. he will call and talk with the missing member.

On this Father's Day Weekend. I trust these two fathers will enjoy a day filled with love and family.
So this week, Buckley and Stu are friends of the week. No pictures... just imagine  two men enjoying breakfast together.

Thankful Thursday

I love receiving thank you notes.
Do you need to send a
note to someone?
Take a moment.
They will love that you
took the time to thank you them.
Simple thank you notes are a wonderful way to express your gratitude.
"Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy and change ordinary opportunities into blessings."

Pets of the week : Elvis and Chewy

Have you ever wondered what are the health benefits of owning an animal? According to scientists who measure stuff like this... "petting a dog is said to release the hormone oxytocin.  Feeling their fur may also lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Touch is also said to soothe a mildly upset canine."

If you have a pooch in your home... they will enjoy you petting them. Plus, you will feel better.

Elvis and Chewy are this week's pets. They love their chew toys, treats, and sitting on the sofa.

A true friend ...

"A true friend
doesn't care if
you're broke, upset,
what you weigh,
if your house is a mess,
what kind of car you drive,
or if your family is filled
with crazy people.
They love you
for who you are."

Monday Musings ... Get Fit

This week's theme in our community is LEXGETFITWEEK.   This morning, early arrivals at the Y received free t-shirts, bags, granola bars, and a coupon for a free drink. Early Birds do get the worm.... Or at least prizes.

I will continue to exercise each day. One goal I am revisiting, eliminate processed food. Overall, I want to make wise food choices. What are your goals for this month?
