Tasty Tuesday

The best part of any meal are the conversations that are shared at the table.

Sunday Scripture

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Hebrews 12: 1 – 3 ( NIV)

Complaining

I don't think he was serious when he began sharing a long list of complaints...  cold weather, daylight hours are decreasing, not enough time to golf.... the list went on and on.

I attempted to counter every one of his complaints... football season, coffee, beautiful fall temperatures...

I said, "You are the complainer of the day! May I take your picture?"

He smiled... "Yes. Put it on Facebook." I did not put it on Facebook.

Are you able to see the twinkle in is eye?

As we ended our conversation, he said, "I'm grateful to the Lord for the gift of life.

I could tell he was not really complaining.

Pet of the week, Sargent

This week's pet is Sargent a German Shepard.  He recently graduated from  Puppy Obedience School.  I think Sargent posed perfectly for this picture.
Sargent is  a year old. He loves to eat lunch meat for treats.

You have to trust God

"Although the life of a person is in a land of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God."
Pope Francis

Today, I took time today to plant pansies.
It was also time to pray.

Pope Francis U.S. Visit 2015

The Pontiff's U.S. Agenda was outlined in yesterday's Wall Street Journal. In this article, the Journal outlined  details of the Pope Francis arrival from Cuba at Andrews Air Force Base until his departure.

Today's online version of People Magazine has an extensive menu for Pope Francis. Elizabeth Dias/ Time magazine's photographer took pictures.

Monday Musings ... refugees

"While every refugee’s story is different and their anguish personal, they all care a common thread of uncommon courage – the courage not only to survive, but to persevere and rebuild their shattered lives."

Antonio Guterres, U. N. High Commissioner for Refugees

For the past ten years, I have been a volunteer with a local agency who assist refugees.
Most of the students in this class lived in refugee camps for decades.
I always was humbled to serve the students. Their courage and resiliency inspire me.
They often waited months and years in order to come to America.

Sunday Scripture

“What more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who become powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.  Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison.  They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated – the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and in holes in the ground.

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Pet of the week, Princess

Most businesses do not allow dogs other than guide dogs to enter their establishments. Yet Princess was a recent visitor at a Rite Aid. So, Princess has special treatment at this location.  Maybe she was given the royal treatment because she is a Princess.
