Monday Musings

Meditation...
A post from another blog has awakened my desire to meditate on God's word.

When do I think about God's word?  Once I begin my workday, do I continue to meditate and think about God's word? What thoughts clutter my mind? What random ideas skip, scatter and run around my mind.

These scriptures and others have sparked and created a renewed desire to meditate and memorize God's word.

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night." Joshua 1:8

"Oh, I how I love your instructions!
I think about them all day long."
Psalm 119: 97

Instead of worrying and stressing out over problems, I know a better way to meditate on God's word.
It quiets my heart.

NSBE Annual Convention 'Engineering and Leadership in Harmony'

NSBE National Society of Black Engineers
Mission
To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Nashville, Tennessee hosted the 40th Annual Convention of NSBE. While Jerry and other colleagues worked, I visited friends and shopped.

For the past  few years, I have NSBE attended conventions from Toronto, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis. It is always thrilling to the see the young students and professionals who are making a difference in their community.

The University of Kentucky Young Professional Chapter has once again won the chapter of the year. These professionals work in the community, mentor young students, and chart a course for other chapters to follow.

Congratulations to the chapter for winning the chapter of the year!

Pet of the week, Lily

Lily is a Kelpie and this week's pet. Kelpies are a Australian sheep dogs that are a working breed known for herding animals on a farm.

Lily is happy. She appears to love living in the city. She is a rescue dog.

Lily's owners met and married
while attending seminary.
They mentioned everyone wants
to know about their dog.
There are not many Kelpies in the United States.

What's for dinner?

What am I making? What about reservations?

What about here?
No, well, what about here?

What about here?

merry - go - round

Every time I see a merry go round I am reminded of my childhood.  Happy memories. Riding the merry go round ...  and the fair ...

What did I love about the fair? It is difficult to pinpoint one specific memory. It was a wonderful blend of sights, smells, and feelings.  In the distance, I would scan the landscape and look with anticipation. Fun was straight ahead! Before experiencing the fun, I would receive warnings.

My parents always gave us warnings. Without exception, we (my sister and brothers) always were instructed to be on our best behavior. What did best behavior look like?  I don’t know. I  I think it was be quiet and stay close.

Was a merry go round at that fair? Who knows? Maybe I just associate the merry go round with the fair. Memories fade with age.

" You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry - go - round will wave at his parents every time around - and why  every time his parents will always wave back." William D. Tammeus

This merry - go - round is @ a mall.

Monday Musings

“If we think that this life is all there is to life, then there is no interpretation of our problems, our pain, not even of our privileges. But everything changes when we open up to the possibility that God’s story is really our story too.”

Max Lucado

Who is the King of glory?

Psalm 24

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
For he laid the earth’s foundations on the seas
And built it on the ocean depths.

Who may climb the mountain of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.
They will receive the LORD’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their savior.
Such people may seek you
And worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.

Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
Who is the King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty;
The LORD, invincible in battle.
Open up, ancient gates!
Open up, ancient doors,
And let the King of glory enter.
Who is the King of glory?
The LORD of Heaven’s Armies –
He is the King of glory.

Psalm 24: 1- - 24  ( New Living Translation)
