Psalm 63

O God, you are my God;
Earnestly  I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land
where there is no water,
Psalm 63:1

How are new products developed for pets?   Do they have focus groups?  What do their staff meetings look like? Who is in the room when they begin the research?  This is what I know, Jackson enjoys Frosty Paws!

Neighbors tasting a recipe

Shopping at a local  Farmer's Market is a simple way to go green. Produce that is grown locally is often the best choice  for families and farmers. When I go to the Bluegrass Farmer's Market, I  know the individuals  who have grown their produce.  Organic farming is cool. Preparing  food that has not traveled thousands of miles, reduces our carbon footprint. Today's recipe is from one of the blogs that I follow.  Since my I am home alone for a couple of days, I invited neighbors to come and taste the " Roasted Rhubarb Recipe.  This recipe is availabe at this blog.  http://www.adinnerparty.net/  It is really a good idea to buy foods in season.  Rhubarb is now in season.  My beautiful neighbors.

Serving

I attended the United Way Breakfast for 2010 Volunteers of the Year.  As I read the stories about  women and men volunteers from all over Central Kentucky, I was humbled to be a part of this group.We were nominated, we did not win.  It was great to be nominated.    We serve...we love... we serve.

Sometimes you have to put down your cape

Sometimes you need to put down your cape...As women, we are  busy taking care of our  husbands, children, friends, home, and careers.  Sometimes, we need to slow down and take care of ourselves.  This month, we had the opportunity to celebrate Janice's 50th Birthday.

Important things to remember

"The gifts we treasure most over the years are often small and simple.  In easy and tough times, what seems to matters most is the way show those nearest us that we've been listening to their needs, to their joys, and their challenges." Fred Rogers

A Grandma Shower

In recent google search, I discovered  3,110,000 results for grandma showers. According to some of the sites, grandma showers have become a  growing trend.  For Ruth Anne's  sister and friends, it was a perfect time to celebrate the upcoming birth of her first grandchild.

Seeing it again for the first time...

Toronto's population is reported to be 2.7 million. I did not realize the city was so large. I want to experience as much as possible during this visit. When I last visited Toronto our children were wee little tykes. As a young parent, I was consumed with planning, packing, and traveling. This time, I have been able to savor and experience more of the city's history. Walking in the city, I am enjoying peace in the midst of the all the activity of the day. All around are me, I hear a plethora of conversations. What do I remember from my last visit? ...not a much. I have funny little memories... the favorite shoes and t-shirts of my children. From our last visit, I have a sweet picture of my husband and children. So, this visit is really like the first time.

It is like seeing it with fresh eyes...Sometimes when you read a familiar passage or scripture from the Bible, it is like you are reading it for the first time. The Holy Spirit brings a fresh perspective and insight...that has been one of my prayers today... a new appreciation and understanding of Good Friday.

Traveling in Toronto

The view as we arrive in Toronto

Our room @ the Sheraton Centre Toronto

After exercising @ 6:30 in the morning, I take a pictures of Jerry .., getting ready for a day of taking pictures.

The reason I am in Toronto, Jerry is on business.
While he attends the events, I will explore the city by walking around in the morning.

I want to find out about his building... Later tonight, I will google Massey Hall.

Another random picture... this is near the hotel.

After spending over an hour walking in downtown Toronto, I was delighted to find this church. Inside the church, the scent of incense was heavy in the church. The sanctuary provided a safe place to pray and meditate. I was sitting in the very last pew on the right side of the church. On the opposite side of the sanctuary a long line of people are standing and waiting... Inside the church, what a wonderful diversity of people observing Holy Week.

Walking back from the church, I was ready to have a few moments of complete silence in our hotel room. Walking around the city with a camera and a map, I know that I look like a tourist. In about an hour, I will take a City Bus Tour. From the spiritual to the material, Toronto has some of the most exclusive stores in the Canada. Gucci , we don't have this store in Lexington.... hm..what will I purchase?
Snapshots from the bus

At the end of the tour, this little one was screaming. Everyone was anxious for the tour to end. Warmer than usual temperatures, a van full of passengers, air conditioner that didn't work, impatient passengers, all combined ... to say let us out!
