Tasty Tuesday ...

" Cooking ... the practice or skill of preparing food by combining, mixing, and heating ingredients." While the definition sounds simple, the skill of cooking well is a lifelong pursuit.

When was the last time you enrolled  in a cooking class or attended demonstration? What or who inspired you ? Were you able to locate an event near you?

In November of 2021, I was a participant at a cooking demonstration in  Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  I posted a picture of Nettie and her recipes. Lord willing I hope to attend a demonstration later this year.

Recently, I was inspired  by this gorgeous  mother and daughter duo to take a cooking class. While they were visiting, we had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant.

If I remember correctly, they recommended Zingerman's Baking and Cooking classes. If you are interested, they even have virtual classes. Check out their website.

Monday Musings ...

"To support the equality of women and the dignity of the unborn feels like a very lonely place to be but we're not alone.

May we lead with hope and love. May we keep showing up with humility and empathy. May we be faithful amid tension."

Winston

Winston is the pet of the week. Winston's  name is derived from the Old English name Wynstan, it means, "joyful stone" Source: the bump

After I took this picture, Winston starting barking. I can only assume he wanted to say,  "Where will you post my picture? Is this going on TikToc?"

Winston is a wonderful puppy. I hope he will enjoy many years of joy with his family.

Friendship Friday

"Everybody isn't your friend. Just because they hang around you and laugh with you doesn't mean they're for you. Just because they say they got your back, doesn't mean they won't stab you in it. People pretend well. Jealousy sometimes doesn't live far. So know your circle. At the end of the day, real situations expose fake people, so pay attention. "

Monday Musings ... sit down ...

"Sit down with your Bible. Open up to the Gospel of Matthew. Find the Sermon on the Mount. Read it slowly.  Listen to Jesus and what he commands with a new heart. Allow him to crucify your nationalism and, yes, your political affiliation. Allow him to put to death anything and everything that confuses his authority with any other. I invite you to follow Jesus totally untangled from the powers of the world."

"Abba,' Father!

"For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba.' Father!" The Spirit himself testifies  together with our spirit that we our God's children, and if children, also heirs - heirs of God and coheirs with Christ - if indeed we suffer with him so that may also gloried."

Romans 8: 15 -17

What a joy to know Abba Father ... and to know we do not have a spirit of slavery!

Thrifty Thursday

Living  below our means... Today that is easier said than done. Why? Because with rising costs at grocery stores and gas at stations, we are finding it harder to make our dollars  stretch further.

Living below our means... translates into spending less that we make.  What about individuals who live on fixed incomes. There are no easy answers. I enjoy reading how families and individuals are being creative in handling finances.

Living sustainable may offer one way to save money. How? We limit consumption of things and resources and prevent waste.

Tasty Tuesday

I will never take for granted the joy of seeing cars lined up to go into the church parking lot. After two years of virtual worship it wonderful to hear a baby cry in service, listen to hymns, and hear our minister share a message.

It is also sweet to see this little baby girl  in the pew in from of us.

This little was enjoying her bottle near the end of service. While she was not drunk on her milk. She got a little tipsy.  As she was in the arms of her grandmother, her eyes were slowly closing. 1'm sure you are familiar with the term, "milk drunk"... when a baby  has her eyes closed and slowly lets go of the bottle and a tiny little smile is on her face... that is the sign that her tummy is full.

Monday Musings ... rehearsal

 "Life is NOT a

dress rehearsal.

The curtain is up

and you are on,

so get out there

and give it your

BEST SHOT."

I have to make up my mind to do my best each and every day. What motivates me?

The LORD. What is your motivation?

How priceless is your unfailing love

"Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens,

your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the highest

mountains,

your justice like the great deep.

You, LORD, preserve both people and

animals.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!

People take refuge in the shadow of your

wings.

They feast on the abundance of your house;

give you them drink for your river of

delights.

For with you is the fountain of life;

in your light we see light.

Continue your love to those who know you,

your righteousness to the upright in heart.

May at the foot of the proud not come against

me,

nor the hand of the wicked drive me away

thrown down, not able to rise."

Psalm 36; 5 - 12
