A shower @ Urban Wine..October 22

jara and kenley share a quiet moment

Jara's friends from Memphis....Amina and Amanda... thanks for sharing in the celebration... They become friends while graduate students @ University of Memphis....
Quite conversation

Laura and Michael ... incredible supportive "surrogate parents" for Jara. They provided wise counsel, loving care, and a temporary place to stay... We thank God for their authentic walk with God and amazing gift of hospitality.

Friends since they were roommates at Asbury College, Brittany will be Jara's matron of honor. She coordinated tonight's shower. She looks amazing.. traveling from Nashville with husband, two small children.... She rocked those invitations... her amazing husband and parents were with the babies at the hotel...

Neville one of Kenley's best men.
He arrived from New York this afternoon...

Some of the yummy cupcakes...

Mandy is showing Jara's the printed itinerary. I decided to put my schedule on a clipboard.
Over the next few days, it was my reference and guideline.

more friends...

Crying at weddings

Involuntary tears slip and slide down my cheeks.... I usually cry at weddings. On Saturday, I will sit quietly in the church, friends and family will slowly enter the sanctuary. Quiet music will fill the space not occupied by conversation, my heart will be filled with contentment. The wedding on Saturday will be a sacred time that will be understood in the heart and not just with words.

When Kenley and Jara exchange vows, will I cry?

Traveling...

Early Tuesday morning, we left Lexington around 6:10 packed and ready to go to Omaha.
After a day of traveling, we had dinner with friends here in Overland Park, Kansas. One of the benefits of being married... I get to claim Jerry's friends as mine. Great dinner and wonderful conversation....Lisa and Tim tell the best stories.....Wednesday on to Omaha... our daughter's wedding...

Lexington in October...

Anticipation before a special event makes the experience sweeter. I savor times when I look forward to a special event. I have been looking forward to a volunteer training. Yes, a training... On October 16, I attended a training for Operation Read Volunteers. Diane Cohn trained a small group of dedicated volunteer tutors. Diane shares her passion with others who are committed to make a difference in the lives of adult education students.

After the training, we went to Keeneland.

Jerry and Diane Cohn pose for a picture in the clubhouse. Nice tie...
