Piper ~ Pet of the week

"Dogs have so many friends because they wag their tails, not their tongues."
Unknown

I might add puppies have friends because they are so adorable. Piper has been busy looking for toys in a basket,  recovering from boot camp, and taking a nap.  Piper's proud owner is Kathy a Greenfield Central high school classmate.

One of the benefits of Facebook... allows  friends from high school to reconnect.    Thank you Kathy!
Piper attends a Boot Camp. It must be for puppies.

Friendship Friday

"Since there is nothing so well worth having as friends never lose a chance to make them."
Francesco Guicciadini

Ayse and I have been friends for over a decade. We share a love of our families, friends, tea, laughter,  and books. We love nurturing old friendships and enlarging our circle of friends. We love the bond of loyal friends.

She is a fabulous encourager and works to bring out the best in her friends. She is a generous in sharing her insight, tips, and suggestions in helping me grow my Mary Kay business.

Today is National Lipstick Day.  She is wearing Mary Kay's Sassy Fuchsia.  This color looks gorgeous! Don't you agree?

This dessert was so delicious... It had to be shared!
Bourbon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice drizzled with something wonderful.

Traveler

Today, we have several travel options: Lyft, Uber and Mega Bus... These ventures are giving us unique ways to think about traveling.
Click these links for more info  Uber or this one Lyft

Jane Tyson Clement points us to deeper thoughts regarding travel.

No one compels you, traveler;
this road or that road, make your choice!
Dust or mud, heat or cold,
fellowship or solitude,
foul weather or a fairer sky,
The choice is yours as you go by.

But here if you would take this path
There is a gate whose latch is love,
whose key is single and which swings
upon the hinge of faithfulness,

and none can mock, who seeks this way,
the king we worship shamelessly. If you would
enter, traveler,
into this city fair and wide,
it is forever and you leave
all trapping of the self outside

Monday Musings.... Politics

In the midst of this year’s presidential campaign hoopla have you found yourself weary? Are you pleased with the process of how we select our candidates?  Are you energized by the process? Or do you find yourself dreaming about a different outcome?

The DNC convention officially begins today, Americans will have a front row seat via the television.

Regardless of who you support, I admire each of the candidates who are making tremendous sacrifices to run for the most important office in our country.

After visiting the Presidential Library and Museum of President Harry Truman I have gained new respect for President Truman.  In the midst of some of the most difficult times, President Truman had the character to lead the country.

President Truman said this about the museum.  “The truth is all I want for history.”

How joyful

Praise the LORD!
How joyful are those who fear the LORD
and delight in obeying his commands.

Pets of the week, Leland and Teddy

Teddy and Leland are Samoyeds. The American Kennel Club officially recognized this breed in 1906. AKC describes this breed as gentle, adaptive and friendly.   I would describe them as gorgeous.

When I met them earlier this week, they were taking a break from the afternoon heat. Hopefully when they return to Colorado they will have cooler weather.

Friendship Friday

“The focus of
entertaining
is impressing others;
the focus of
true hospitality
is serving others.”
Tim Chester

Summer vacations and road trips are sweet because of these two wonderful people.

Each year our friends treat us with such gracious hospitality. This year we were were served a delicious brunch.

The celebrity in front is Hooch. Each day, I look forward to my daily email from Hooch.

Thank you dear friends.

Travel Tales

“People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.”
St. Augustine

I love travel experiences. I love to wiggle my toes in the sand, look at the vast plains of the Mid-West and gazing at the mountains in the distance. What I treasure most about travel is time spent with family and friends.
In this part of the country the speed limit is 75.

This week I was able to experience much of what I love about travel. Enjoying time with family, friends, and soaking in the beauty of God creation.

There was also a little excitement as well.
Fire Alarm! Here these firemen are leaving after
an all clear was given.
Whew!
