Reality Television

Why are reality shows so popular? What do viewers find so appealing about these shows?  Who are the programing executives that pitch ideas about future programs? Who decides what will appeal to the public?

Eileen Quinn explores the reasons why reality programs are popular in her May 13, 2013 article in the Digital Journal. Another view is presented by Sharon Hodde Miller’s article; The Real Housewives of Duck Dynasty. In this on line article, she examines the reasons for the popularity of this show.

With the exception of Duck Dynasty, if people view reality shows for an accurate portrayal of family life, they need to turn off the television.  I enjoy watching the family on Duck Dynasty.

I know I am biased, but my family is the real deal. Hard working, funny, and caring.  We keep it 100%.
