Faithful Servant

Deacon Hunn’s gave his first sermon last evening.  Although this was his first “official” sermon, he has been sharing the Good News of the gospel for years. Several men in the congregation shared how he took them to Sunday School.  Today, he continues to work as a barber where he shares the love of God with each of his customers.

It does not stop here. On most Sundays, he attends church services.  After attending early morning services, you may notice him quietly leave the sanctuary to visit the youth at the Fayette County Juvenile Detention Center.

His sermon last evening is one way where he serves the Lord. His sermon topic, God is Love.  His text, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  After beginning the message in the New Testament, he then directed us to the Genesis in the Old Testament.
His message points

  •     Creation
  •   The Fall
  •   Redemption

It was a clear presentation of the gospel. I never tire of hearing the Good News. God’s Love is always fresh and inviting.

At the end of his sermon he shared that he came to know Jesus as his Savior in October of 1940. Today he is 81 years young. Earlier this year, he said so long to his wife of over sixty years.  He was able to share about her life and service to the Lord.

If you see an elderly man driving a red Volvo, it might be  Deacon Hunn.

God  has blessed him with health, a clear mind, and most of all the desire to share Jesus.
