Monday Musings, Presidential Politics

Why would anyone read every book written by every 2016 Presidential candidate?
Has every candidate or potential candidate even written a book? What books would be at the top of your list?

I love the idea that someone is willing to take seriously the challenge to be an informed voter.  Do most of us receive our information concerning political candidates from second hand sources such as the Internet, newspaper and television accounts? Do we listen to people with whom we disagree?

Do we invest the time and energy to read first hand accounts from individuals? Are we satisfied with sound bites on important issues?  Do we discount a whole group of people who don’t look like us? Or think like us?

On Saturday, I met a UK Professor who is thoughtfully reading books from each of the candidates.  As we waited in line, we discussed immigration.

If you live near me, you might see him and a group of men chatting about politics at Panera.

This is one of the books that this professor is reading.
He is a professor at the UK School of Medicine.
You might hear more about our conversation
at another time.
