A place for everything and everything in its place

I have a lovely clean pantry.  After a day of sorting, tossing, and cleaning, the shelves look beautiful. Now, I will list other spring cleaning projects.

Today, my goal was to find a space for each item that provided easy access.  I needed to rearrange items, recycle, and toss some things.  As I was cleaning, I was  reminded  of my great grandmother and one of her favorite sayings, “A place for everything and everything in its place.”  What is the source of this saying?  According to one on line source the quotation is from The Oxford Book of  Quotations which dates from the 17th century.
