Safe or Scary... go

As you enter the classroom where I teach most Sundays you will see two large red tables surrounded by blue chairs. In the corner of the classroom you see a bookshelf that holds books, puzzles and blocks. On one wall you see two large ladybugs. Without words the room says safe and happy!

It is easy to feel comfortable and safe in the classroom. It has been designed to be safe.  Every teacher and volunteer has successfully passed a criminal background check. The safety of each child is a priority.

We like safe. We like comfort and security. Yet, we are not called to serve only in the confines of our warm safe church building.

Today, members of our church went to a  nearby neighborhood to walk and pray. There were moments when I was scared. I was reminded by a friend and God's word, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power of love and of a sound mind." Timothy 1:7 ( KJV)

We are called to serve and go and make disciples.

Matthew 28:18-19
