Christian
Nice Girl
I took the time
to attend a retreat today.
We call them retreats…
another term might be… group therapy.
Jennifer Degler, PhD is a
clinical psychologist and life coach was today’s speaker. She counsels adults,
youth, and couples at Interfaith Counseling in central Kentucky. In addition, she and Paul Coughlin are authors of the book, No More Christian Nice Girl: When just being nice - instead of good - hurts you, your family, and your friends. This book is available for purchase online at Amazon.
What did this retreat look
like? As a group, we did an exercise
discovering Biblical examples of bad girls, good girls, and girls who were bad
for a season or a reason. We prayed, sang, and took a Nice Girl
Self Test. Our speaker also created
CWIVES, a Web site devoted to helping Christian wives understand and enhance
their sexuality. (www.cwives.com)
One of the lessons for me,
developing skills to resolve conflict. I like the goal of becoming a strong, confident, and caring woman...becoming God's good woman.
“Failure to confront an issue
is permission to continue.” J. Degler, PhD
