If you are a dog owner you are already aware of the health benefits of having a dog. Now, Harvard Health Publishing is supporting what we already know. Dogs may be good for our health.
"Several studies have shown that dog owners have lower blood pressure than non-owners - probably because their pets have a calming effect on them and because dog owners tend to get more exercise.
The power of touch also appears to an important part of this "pet effect" Several studies show that blood pressure goes down when a person pets a dog."* Harvard Health Publishing is a part of Harvard Medical School.
* Having a dog can help your heart - literally
I wonder ... do cats have the same health benefits for their owners. 😶
This week's pet of the week is Lady. I met Lady last month while we were visiting in Raleigh, North Carolina.
