Tears and prayers

Part of the Children's Sensory Garden
Visiting in Indiana, I went for a walk at  Mounds State Park.  It is one of my favorite places.. So many memories... big reunions, small get togethers, flag football scuffles, cookouts, hiking, swimming,  roasting marshmallows, riding bikes, songs, cousins at the playground,  picnic tables, and laughter.

Walking by the swimming pool, I remember, this is where my daughter lost her first tooth. She was so upset.  Her frail little voice, "Mom, put it back in."  Her tooth had been hanging by a small strand of skin.  She was crying and sobbing, wanting her tooth to go back. She was learning one of her many life lessons about growing up.
Tears when we were in the midst of a hail storm in Tennessee,  she cried, I prayed. No matter the place or circumstance, I am grateful for prayer.
God is our refuge and strength
always ready to help in time of trouble."
Psalm 46:1 New Living Translation

Politics

Senator Lugar was defeated in yesterday’s Republican primary in Indiana. He has faithfully served the citizens of Indiana for over 34 years. What happened? He lost touch with grassroots of the Republican Party.   His co- sponsorship of the Dream Act and support of the New START treaty, did not garner support from portions of the Republican Party.  While, he did not support President Obama’s Affordable Health Care Legislation, this fact did not persuade citizens of Indiana to give him victory .

While I no longer live in Indiana, I will miss his thoughtful contribution to the national discussion on issues.  Republican or Democrat, we need civil debates about the important issues that face our country. Senator Lugar offered that type of discourse in the debate.  No crazy talk.  Insightful and intelligent, he will be missed.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit with my Aunt Lena for an entire afternoon.  What a sweet visit!
Aunt Lena served Senator Lugar when he was the Mayor of Indianapolis from 1968 - 1976.  She also served Mayor William H. Hudnutt III. Over the years, she has been able to serve her community and make a difference. She continues to be sharp as a tack in discussing family and political issues.
Once a Republican... now a Democrat

Contain Yourself

Have you shopped at a Container Store? Are you familiar with the products and personal services available at this store? Today was my first shopping experience in the store. I was able to make two sensible purchases that I will be able to use in our home.  I did contain myself.   There is one Container Store in the State of Indiana. Since we (The Commonwealth of Kentucky) does not have a location, we will have to shop online.
A peak in the store

Routine

This is how Merriam -Webster defines the word routine:
1 a: a regular course of procedure
b: habitual or mechanical performance of an established procedure
My Monday routine...devotions, exercise, walking the dog, planning, laundry, dust, vacuum, clean bathrooms, water plants, check emails, my MK business,  check my online bookstore, mail books to customers, phone calls, clean counters, preparing for BSF, post office,  and so goes the list.  I must schedule at least four hours of writing. As spring has arrived, I now include caring for my container garden.
I love clean and order... I keep pressing toward the goal.

Pets of the week!

Clinton and Dudley are the pets of the week.  These pugs have SO  much personality. Funny and friendly, they are adorable. I am amazed that they are sitting so sweetly. I must give credit to Alan and Becky for sharing this picture.   They would never sit so quietly for me.

Dudley and Clinton
Clinton and Dudley love to travel! Every week Clinton travels with Alan to his office.  Dudley stays in Lexington and keeps Becky company.  How did I become friends with Becky and Alan?  Jackson was missing.  I went from door to door distributing missing dog flyers.

Clinton ( I did take this picture)
Dudley... what a sweet face!

City Barbeque

What is missing from this top ten list of restaurants in Lexington? Barbeque... That will change in June when City Barbeque opens on Richmond Road.  This morning, I met the General Manager and the Assistant Manager.  My question, "Will you have Memphis Style Barbecue?"  Their answer, "Yes. In additional will offer a little from  Kansas City, North Carolina, and other places."

We might have to check them out when they open.
