Tears

Although she was a stranger, I was moved my her tears. While, I do not know the circumstances of her life, her pain was evident as the tears were slipping down her face.

“Crying is cleansing. There's a reason for tears, happiness or sadness."

Monday Musings... Mitchell and Maxwell

As the head coach of UK Women’s Basketball team, Coach Matthew Mitchell and his wife Jenna Ramsey Mitchell have created the Mitchell Family Foundation.  With the creation of this foundation, he is expanding his influence beyond coaching.

Last week, the Mitchell Foundation hosted An Evening with John Maxwell at Immanuel Baptist Church.  This event served to motivate leaders to make a difference in the lives of individuals in Central Kentucky.   The UK Women's Basketball team served as hostesses for the event.

I will exalt you

Psalm 30: 1 - 5
I will exalt you, for you rescued me.
You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
O LORD my God, I cried to you for help,
And you restored my health.
You brought me up from the grave, O LORD.
You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones!
Praise his holy name.
For his anger last only for a moment,
But his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,

But joy comes in the morning.
(New Living Translation)

A Saturday serving others

"Mighty Moms is a special project that offers moms and caregivers of children with severe developmental or physical disabilities a weekend for themselves for fun, relaxation and activities with other Mighty Moms" Altrusa

What happens during this weekend is amazing. Each parent is treated to a day of pampering. What does that look like? In the morning, they visited a horse farm. Delicious Meals, Manicures, Massages, Mary Kay Make Up, and new hairstyles. Yet, this weekend is more than fun and relaxation.

This weekend provides mothers and caregivers the opportunity to develop a strong support network. Moms begin to share resources, recommend doctors, and offer emotional support.  Many of the women will begin to develop deep friendships that will extend beyond this weekend.   Special women spend a portion of their Saturday serving others ...

Thursday Teaching

Lesson planning is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I love researching! Of course, I don’t think anything can compare to a classroom environment when students are engaged and excited.

This evening I was able to sub for a regular ESL teacher.    This evening erased every bad memory of substitute teaching from my mind.  Students who are eager to learn make it fun.

My least favorite part of teaching is grading papers.

“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.

First Day of Autumn

Since today is the first official day of Autumn, I thought Carl Sandburg's poem would be perfect.

Autumn Movement

I cried over beautiful things knowing no beautiful thing lasts.

The field of cornflower yellow is a scarf at the neck of the copper sunburned woman,
the mother of the year, the taker of seeds.

The northwest winds comes and the yellow is torn full of holes, new beautiful things

Come in the first spit of snow on the northwest wind, and the things go,
not one lasts.

Carl Sandburg , 1878 - 1967
