For
nearly an hour, I listened with rapt attention to this year’s speaker at a
Literary Tea. New
York Times bestselling author and former Kentucky Poet Laureate, Sena Jeter
Naslund was the speaker at this year’s Literary Tea at the Carnegie Center.
After
her presentation, she entertained questions from the audience. One question
seemed to take her off guard. What did she learn about herself in writing her
novels? Revealing and reflective, she
gave an intimate view of how her writing has prompted her to levels of deeper self-discovery.
She also shared one of her characters haunted her. She was able to include this character in her most recent novel, The Fountain of St. James Court; or Portrait of the Artist as an Old Woman.
Volunteers
from the Carnegie Center provided delicious tea sandwiches and desserts.
