Here is Tootsie recuperating from surgery. |
This week’s pet is Tootsie. I met Tootsie’s owner about eight years ago. Sandi was on the
Board of Directors of the Lexington Newcomers Club when we ( hubby and I) arrived in Lexington
eight years ago. Sandi and I became friends as
members of the Newcomer’s Book Club. Sandi has a vibrant personality. She shares thrilling
tales regarding her travels and adventures. While we no longer live in the same city, we remain in touch via email and Facebook.
Here is her story is about
Tootsie. "We picked Tootsie up at an animal shelter when she was just 6 weeks
old, back in January of 1997. She was to be a companion for our other dog
Cookie. Toots stole my heart when she cuddled into the side of my neck
when we were trying to decide of which pup to take. She spent the next 8
years being a "sister" to Cookie; they were truly inseparable till
the day Cookie died. After a couple of years she became a big sister to
our newest dog Annie. Toots taught Annie how to jump straight up and down
on all fours when she is excited, how to scratch thin air because she can no
long reach her ears when they need a good scratch the best yet has been how to
tap the ground with her back paws to "cover" what she does outside
since stretching is almost impossible, it looks like she is dancing. She
brings love, laughter and joy every day we have with her. We still call
her the "pup" or the lady. Her personality is like no other.
I smile when I see her or listen to her snore. I have said that she was
our best dog, all of our dogs have been that, but Tootsie has a very special
place in our hearts. If you could call a dog kind that would be her, she
is gentle and so loving. She is 15 and I am looking forward to many
more years with this dog, since there is very little I wouldn't do for her and
her well-being."
Next week, Sandi
shares her story about Annie a prison puppy.
