Common Thread - Bracelets

Button bracelets are a perfect accessory.
They can complement an outfit or add a pop of color.
These bracelets are designed and created by our ESL students.
I think the button bracelets make perfect gifts.
My friends are lovely models.
These bracelets are so cute.

Monday Musings ...

Methodists

"Let us not always be fighting in the dark, Come, let us look one another in the face. And perhaps some of you may love what I am by the grace of God; or rather, what "I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus."
John Wesley

I am always picking books and devotional books that are free. This morning I picked up a small pamphlet, The Character of a Methodist.  This is a great Methodist classic written by John Wesley.
Is this book out of date? No, all of the principals are based on the Word of God.  Precious

Lord's Prayer

When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners and pray so people will see them. I tell you the truth, they already have their full reward. When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who cannot be seen.  Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.

And when you pray, don’t be like those people who don’t know God. They continue saying things that mean nothing, thinking that God will hear them because of their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him. So when you pray, you should pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may you name always be kept holy.
May your kingdom come
and what you want be done,
here on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us the food we need for each day,
Forgive us our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who sinned against us.
And do not cause us to be tempted,
But save us from the Evil One. [The kingdom, the power, and the glory are your forever. Amen.]

Matthew 6: 5 – 13 (New Century Version)

" You have to be happy in it."

“People are easily intimidated when they decorate their home. They think that it has to be one way.  But there’s no one way. It’s your way, your style.  At the end of the day, you have to live there. It your cocoon, your nest. You have to be happy in it.”

Bryan Bett

On our porch, we have a nest of barn swallows. Tucked in a corner, momma bird is sitting on the nest.  Momma bird seems to be happy in it.

Barn Swallows create their nests by using mud and grass.  I love their diet... they eat flies of all types. In addition, they are know to eat beetles and wasps. I am sorry they eat bees.

Barn Swallows  don't attend decorating classes. A little mud and grass and create a neat nest.

Winsome

Winsome is an interesting word. It is rarely used in every day conversations. I have most recently heard this word in a message given by Chuck Swindoll.

What does this word mean?

According to Merriam Webster’s online dictionary winsome is  ...
cheerful, pleasant, appealing
described as generally pleasing, and engaging often because of a childlike innocence.

Who do you know that is winsome?

I can think of Beth Moore. Her teaching style is engaging, cheerful, and a she has  sweet sense of innocence. Yet, she challenges you to go deep in God's word ... apply it, live it, don't just talk about it ...

Another person ... Rick Warren... He teaches God's word with such love,  compassion and conviction.

If I remember accurately, Chuck Swindolll was challenging his audience to have a winsome attitude to be an attractive witness for Christ.
