Sunday Scripture

During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said.
"Praise be the name of God for
ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes
them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the
discerning.
He reveal deep and hidden
things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
I thank and praise you, O God of my
fathers:
You have given me wisdom and
power,
you have made known to me what
we asked of you,
you have made known to us,
the dream of a king."
Daniel 2: 19 - 23 (NIV)

Fireplace

“The fireplace is our tiny sun for the evening, casting long shadows over the rug. The flames curl and

sway, flickering this way and that crackling as they burn the dry wood. It’s good to feel their warmth at last, even if it is from only one direction. We watch with hypnotized joy, holding our hands out to get just a little more of the gentle heat. “

Pet of the week, Zina

Zina! This gorgeous Siberian Husky is this week's pet.  Zina lives in trendy Asheville, North Carolina.  According to her owners, she is 22 months old and a handful.

The Siberian Husky is described by the AKC as mischievous, loyal, and outgoing. They are known for their endurance and willingness to work hard. AKC's website also states that this breed is a great family dog, plays well with other dogs, and enjoys exercise. It is worth noting, that this breed does not like to be left alone.

Monday Musings,

 It seems as if we are in the never-ending election cycle. With political commercials filling the air on television and radio, it seems as if we cannot escape the barrage of information and blasts from opposing parties. I am weary of the cycle.

I have lived long enough and voted in enough primaries and elections to recognize that there are good candidates in both parties.

No one party political or individual possesses all of the intellectual capital on how to solve local, state, or national problems.  No one has all the answers. Christians are told to pray for those in authority. It does not say anything about praying for one political party. God says to pray.

Some of the representatives take seriously the opportunity to inform the public. Grateful for Senator Reginald L. Thomas who gives informed updates.

I will be happy for the political commercials to end.

Tomorrow is election day. I will vote.

Sunday Scripture

“I love the LORD because he heard my voice
and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!
Death wrapped its ropes around me;
 the terrors of the grave overtook me.
I saw only trouble and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the LORD:
“Please, LORD save me!”
How kind the LORD is! How good the LORD is!
So merciful,  this God of ours!
The LORD protects those of childlike faith:
I was facing death and he saved me.
Let my soul be at rest again,
for the LORD has been good to me.
He has saved me from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from stumbling
And so I walk in the LORD presence
As I live here on earth!
I believed in you, so I said
“I am deeply troubled LORD.”
In my anxiety I cried out to you.
“These people are all liars!”
What can I offer the LORD
for all he has done for me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and praise the LORD name for saving me.
I will keep my promises to the LORD
In the presence of all his people.

The LORD cares deeply
When his loved ones die.
Oh LORD, I am your servant;
yes I am your servant, born into your household;
you have freed me from my chains.
I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call upon the name of the LORD.
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
in the presence of all his people –
In the house of the LORD
In the heart of Jerusalem
Praise the LORD!

Psalm 116 ( New Living Translation)
