Celebration Dinner

After some anxious days it is nice not to have a cloud hanging over our visit.  After some stressful conversations and a bit of waiting, the news is good. Every thing has been approved. Prayers have been answered.  It is time to celebrate.

Now we move to the more work stage.  Thank you God. May we remember the lessons you allowed us to learn. Every trial, every situation, may I always turn to God first. Thank you God  for the privilege to pray for others we love.

"A beetle! Like the ones in mom and dad’s garden?"

"Gee Whiz Franklin! You are so out of it.  Just stand up and look out the window. They may come to this part of Omaha."

Monday Musings ... Summertime

Summer vacations are delicious. We map our trip to plan visits with family and friends. We load up podcasts so we can listen to the Satellite Sisters. We savor conversations that linger long after the last bit of meal has been consumed. We laugh and hug... We drink sweet tea. We read scriptures. We sing hymns with a fresh appreciation of the lyrics that point to God's faithfulness and goodness. We savor summer.

Sunday Scripture ... Farmer Scattering Seed

In this parable, Jesus is speaking ...

"Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants seeds soon wilted under the hot sun, and sine they didn't have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out tender plants. Still other sends fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears should listen and understand."

Pet of the week, Marley

Marley is the pet of the week. I met Marley and his family last week at the Bluegrass Farmer's Market.  Marley is a  "Heinz 57" dog.   Heinz 57 dogs have uncertainty ancestry. They are simply mutts.  Mutts have sweet personalities. What do you think? 

What are some big questions in your life?

What do you do when you face a big problem? Do you seek the counsel from family or friends? Do you remember past successes?  

On Sunday, I asked some of the little ones in my Sunday School class this question. What do you do when you are afraid?  Three and four year old children possess amazing insight.  In their little lives, they have to face fear. Storms, tornadoes, the dark are just a few of the fears that face.

What do you do when you are afraid?  Two answers melted my heart.  First, “I pray.”

Second, “Sometimes, I just have to be brave.”

Whether we are three, thirty-three, or sixty, we can trust God with our fears. Then, God will help us be brave, as we trust Him.
