“As a community we say so often, there is a theme that says, “Do black lives matter?’
At the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves, do all
lives matter?"
Director Toney Armstrong, Memphis Police Department
addressing the recent murder of Memphis Police Officer Sean Bolton.
…
Over twenty years ago, a small group of nuns in the Dayton, Ohio area began a small but powerful witness marking the violent deaths of people
in the community. No death was unnoticed.
As the murder rate increased, it would have been easy for
the community to become hardened to the horror to the senseless violence. The
nuns gave witness to the value of each life. While, their witness did not
become a national movement, it made a difference in this community.
How can we give witness in our communities that every life
matters?
