Before they say "I do"

Crying at the rehearsal dinner. Yes, I was that person.

Somerset ~ Pet of the week.

Sixteen years ago, Somerset was tiny kitten who was rescued from the side of a road. Her owners describe her as loving and playful. According to her family, Somerset acts and plays like a dog.

One more fact, Sidney (their daughter) shared, "We were going to name her "booger" due to the black spot by her nose." I think Somerset is a much better name!

Somerset's family recently moved from Kentucky to Alabama. As University of Louisville fans,  I wonder if the family will be able to they will cheer for Alabama.  Roll Tide?

Special thanks to Dana for sharing the pictures.  I really like the expression on her son's face. Dana even shared a short video... hope to post it later.
This is how Somerset traveled to her new home.
Make the most of your day!

Pray

Whenever I remember one conversation with my mom I laugh.  I don’t recall the problem, I remember our response. “We have done every thing we can. Now, we need to pray.”

Once the words had slipped out of our mouths, we realized what we had said. Instead of our last response, we could have sought the Lord in the beginning.  I live and I learn.  Over and over, I learn human wisdom is limited.

In the midst of every challenge God has provided everything I need.

Monday Musings

Memorial Day
“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic . It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, it is the urge to serve at whatever cost."

Southern Hospitality

Mississippi  - Birthplace of America's Music

Everything in this room offers a warm welcome to guests who are traveling to the state.
It really feels like home.
This is an official state building.
A brochure stand sitting to the right of the picture reminds me
this is a rest stop.

I will look for carousel horses around town.

Missing Mississippi

I miss you Mississippi. It has been a three long years since our last visit. Will you welcome me back with open arms? I have missed the family reunions in sweltering heat, church services, gospel hymns, warm hugs, sweet tea, visits on porches, storytellers, barbeque, German Chocolate Cake, sweet potato pie, shrimp and grits, greens, fried chicken, cousins playing in the Mississippi red clay, Cousin Cassandra singing, Martha talking, and Aunt Sarah laughing.

As we travel along I-65 South, we see familiar landmarks.  We are making our way back to family.

Pet of the week

This week's pet is a Basset Hound. I met this "hound" at the our Paws for Peace: Walk in the Park.  Basset Hounds are scent hounds originally bred for the purpose of hunting rabbits. This breed has special health issues as the result of their large pendulum ears. Oh, I wish I could remember the name of this pet.
