Love your enemies
I don't think I have any enemies. If I did, how would I pray for them?
In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, "But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!"
I would have to pray for my enemies that they would receive the same mercy and grace that I have received and experienced through Christ the Savior. Although there are times when I want to pray like King David in the Psalms....for God to 'deal' with them! There have been times when the Lord moved my heart to pray for blessings for my enemies and the amazing thing happened in my heart....they were no longer my enemies....how can you bless those whom you are at odds with? So often enemies are wounded people who just don't know any better way to behave!
I agree! I continue to want my heart to tender and motivated to pray even more diligently that others would receive God’s grace, mercy, and peace found Christ our Savior.
I also love the practical applications of our behavior with our enemies… “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12: 20 ~21
