I was hungry and you gave me something to eat...

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Friendship Friday

"A friend is one who knows you as you are,

understands where you have been,

accepts what you have become and

still gently allows you to grow."

Free ... Free ... Free

I'm all about free. Even if it means getting up at 5:00 a.m.  During the month of April, horse racing fans travel to our city. We welcome visitors from around the world to our gorgeous city. Fans may enjoy free admission to see the horses warm up for free. When?  Times are from 6:00 am until 10:00 am.

In the past, guess who visited our fair city?  Queen Elizabeth visited in 1984. This was her first visit to the Bluegrass, she came to celebrate a race named in her honor. She actually visited the Commonwealth of Kentucky five times. Her first visit was in 1984.

What are you enjoying for free?

Wisdom ...

Louise Penny's character, Inspector  Gamache, states that are four statements that lead to wisdom... what are they?

  1. I was wrong.
  2. I'm sorry.
  3. I don't know
  4. I need help.

While the Inspector Gamache is a fictional character, I think these statements are worth daily application. Each day, I find myself using these four statements. What about you?

Chester ...

Chester is a service dog and this week's pet.  I met Chester and his owner while shopping at Meijer's. Dogs are loyal, help you get out a a bad mood, and are great companions.

If you can have that in life, things won't be too bad.'

Teacher Tuesday

If you have children or grandchildren in school, you know first hand that teachers are simply amazing. I know this...

Volunteering at two middle schools has given me a deeper appreication for teachers. I see first hand their challenges and the rewards that they face each day. I enjoy looking at the posters in the classrooms.

"If you have to put someone  on a pedestal,

put teachers. They are society's heroes."

Monday Musings ... Book Club

My morning began with the Amazing Book Club's discussion of the book,"The World Played Chess by Robert Dugoni. It was a rich and layered conversation. After our meeting, we enjoyed lunch.

My evening ended with the discussion of the Book of Lamentations. What a joy to be with a BSF group and end my day with them. Yes, two different groups..

This book is a collection of poetic laments regarding the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC. The book is to be treasured because of its poetic artists and the its timeless truth.  So many take away truths... God is just, faithful, and merciful.

It is better ...

 "Out of my distress I called on the LORD;

the LORD answered me and set me free.

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear.

What can man do to me?

It is better to take refuge in the LORD

than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD

than to trust in princes.

Psalm 118: 5 - 9

Silent Saturday

"Silent Saturday - the day between Good Friday &

Resurrection Sunday - is a

powerful reminder that just because

God "appears" silent doesn't mean that

God isn't at work & in control.

These are painful days.

Dont lose hope.

God is in control.

God is at work.

God is not done yet.

Holy Week

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week when the Lord Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. All four Gospels record this historical event.

On Holy Monday, the Lord Jesus clears the Temple. Luke 19: 46.  Then, on Holy Tuesday, Jesus goes to the Mount of Olives.  Biblical scholars speculate that on Wednesday Jesus  and  His disciples rested in anticipation of Passover. However there is  no biblical  record of this in the Gospels.

Holy Week  continues with Passover and the Last Supper/ Maundy Thursday.  From Bethany, Jesus sent Peter and John to the Upper Room to make preparation for the Passover Meal.

It is important to note that Holy Week,  Passover, and the Last Supper  has no mention of  the word Easter. When we focus on the biblical  text/scriptures, we will discover  the accurate record of  the Lord Jesus his trial,  death, burial, and resurrection.

I recently attended a Passover Seder.  Our hosts, Jewish Believers helped Christians understand the Biblical significance for the Passover and the   Lord Jesus the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
