Freebies for Friday

"Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas." To day, Imagination Library  has gifted a total of 204,274,622.

According to the website a Blue Ribbon Selection Committee selects books from early childhood literacy experts.

As a child, I loved reading. I hope every child has the opportunity to develop a love for the written word.

Libraries  across our nation provide a wonderful resource for children of every age. Free books ... read... and return.

Friendship Friday

"It's the friends you meet on your way that makes your journey worthwhile."

Monroe, Michigan Rest Stop

I have so many sweet memories of my life in Michigan. Returning to the state, I see so many familiar landmarks, street names, and city names. What do I  remember most fondly of time in Michigan?

Of course my friends!

💖

One of my dearest friends is in Germany on business. Lord willing, I hope to see her at another time.

Wednesday Worship

It has been over two years since we attended in person services on Wednesdays. Our congregation continues to have Bible Study and Prayer meetings virtually. Our Sunday Services are in person and virtual. Members  have two ways to stay involved. I love that technology allows us to remain connected  to each another and in God's Word.

Tonight was refreshing as we visited in person church services.  Our first stop, kindergarten students were learning about St. Patrick.  Laura, taught the song... BIBLE. In addition, songs and Shamrocks were a part of today's class content.

After songs, we travel downstairs to supper.

Monday Musings ... quilts

"You know, children, quilts, like stories, are part of our heritage, part of our culture. Some quilts even tell stories. Our past is a patchwork of memories and tales. You all keep that forever tucked in your pockets, you hear?

Sharon M. Draper

If you are able to see the details of this quilt  the pictures tell a story. The thirty squares tell a wonderful narrative of the state of Nebraska.    This quilt is on display at All Saints Episcopal church.

Family visits

"We build deep and lasting family relationships by doing simple things together, like family dinner and just having fun together."

Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Some days we are fortunate to share breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. Then,  we add fun by watching movies together or playing games.  Building precious memories.

Storm Stories

"A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing down to the roaring storm, waving, swirling,  tossing branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease."

John Muir

Last week, our community endured strong winds that knocked down trees,  tore shingles off roofs, scattered branches in streets,  and caused damage across our state. Sadly, individuals also died as the result of this storm.

Today, many families are still without electricity. Schools are closed for a second day. Friends are sharing stories of reading by flashlights, enduring minor and major inconveniences, and waiting for a small return to normalcy.

One friend shared her chemotherapy was interrupted are the result of the storm. There are countless storm stories. Pray for recovery... physical and spiritual.

Friendship Friday

"Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. If you approach life this way, always looking for ways to build instead of tear down, you'll be amazed at how much happiness you can give to others and find for yourself.'

Thrifty Thursday

Someone forgot to get their change. I wonder, did they simply bag their items and forget this dollar?  Another customer told me, "It is your lucky day?" I said, "No, I am not taking the money, it may have cooties."

Seriously, I told the cashier at CVS someone left their money. He collected the dollar and some coins.  I wonder how many people simply walked by the dollar hanging out of the machine.  Maybe the customer  will come back.

Slow down.

March

March 1 ... Birthday flowers for my daughter.

Temperature in Lexington  79 F

Temperature in Omaha 49 F

This quote from Charles Dickens seems to describe the day.

"It was one of those

March

days when the sun shines hot

and the

wind blows cold;

when it is summer in the light

and winter in the

shade.

Charles Dickens
