First day of the school year ...August 12. Once inside the building, I see clean shiny floors, clean white boards, and of course, students. On my desk I have a small packet that includes, a part of a toy railroad track, a note pad, school calendar. and a note from the director of schools. Inside the note, was an encouraging note to remind faculty and staff to build on the district's academic gains. Inspiring and short, his message is contagious.
For the first few days, faculty, staff, and students are enjoying a "honeymoon". Students are bringing fresh energy to the school. Students have a fresh beginning...a clean slate.
Now, the honeymoon is slowly fading... little attitudes and complaints are beginning to surface in snippets of overheard conversations. But overall, a renewed focus to help struggling students...
helping students stay on track..

Anniversary Celebration
Last weekend, Jerry and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary. We had a lovely time in Nashville. A quiet dinner at 1808 Grille....resting at the Courtyard Marriott..... breakfast with Deneice and Anvil at the Puffy Muffin in Brentwood, a short visit with Wanda and Eric.... phone calls to Hester... lunch with Chuck and Angie at Cheddars....
A wonderful anniversary weekend.

Prayer
What does an answered prayer look like?
If you believe in prayer...what does the answer look like? Think about your most recent answer to prayer. For me, it is daily strength, words to say, rest at night, safety for a trip, forgiveness, provision, grace to be a faithful witness, and insight from God's word.
Then I look at my brother. In June, my brother was gravely ill. My daughter called me and asked me about her uncle...my sister called and said that he was in the emergency room over 200 miles away. I emailed friends, inviting them to join my in prayer.
All I could do was pray. Now, weeks later, he is doing much better. Here are some pictures from his recent "Belated Birthday Celebration" For me, this is an answer to prayer.
