Pet of the week, Missy

Missy is this week's pet.  She is also available for adoption.  If she could speak, I am sure she would say, "Pick me! Love me! " Missy will be at the Rolex Kentucky event. Hopefully, she will meet her future owner.

Missy is just one of the many dogs and cats that are available for adoption through the Lexington Humane Society.  The Humane Society Adoption program is located inside the Pet Smart store. This is a super convenient location for new pet owners.

Friendship Friday

Over the years, my best friend and I have shared a remarkable history. We have attended weddings, laughed during natural childbirth classes, endured international travel, hosted our share of birthday parties, sat in hospital waiting rooms, attended parent teacher conferences, shouted at soccer matches, smiled at high school and college graduations, comforted friends and family after the death of a loved one, attended baby dedications, grieved together when our parents died, prayed together, fought together and supported different political parties. My husband is my best friend.

Today, we began our day celebrating his birthday with a “ Birthday Breakfast.”

 My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me, and the worst.”

Tasty Tuesday

It has been my experience that recovery from surgery is made easier when you have a supportive family and friends. More than ever, I have a deep appreciation for the many people who have prayed for my husband. God has answered so many prayers before and after surgery. To God be the glory.

 While I have been busy cooking and cleaning. It has been wonderful for friends who have given us gift certificates and dropped by meals. This lovely lady made this delicious dessert.

Monday Musings

In 1978, Roger Holloway a DJ at WTLC in Indianapolis introduced listeners to a new artist named
This station playing Prince music
24/7

Prince.  Holloway’s praise for this new artist was captivating. Over the years, fans would experience the genius of this artist. I wonder what Holloway said to make his intro such an impression on me. I along with millions of other fans would be impressed by this gifted musician, singer, and artist.

Shock from his sudden passing has now become a reality.  In addition to his musical genius I am now discovering the depth of his philanthropy.  He leaves an impressive legacy of music and contributions to the communities across the country.

A life legacy... what legacy will we leave...

I will answer you ...

"This is what the LORD says;
In the time of my favor I will
answer you,
and in the day of salvation I will
help you;
"I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people,
to restore the land
and to reassign its desolate
inheritances,
to say to the captives, Come out,
and to those in darkness, Be
free! "
They will feed beside the roads
and find pasture on every barren
hill.
They will neither hunger nor
thirst,
nor will the desert heat or the sun
beat upon them.
He who has compassion on them
will guide them.
and lead them beside springs of
water.
I will turn all my mountains into
roads,
and my highways will be raised
up.
See, they will come from afar -
some from the north, some from
the west
some from the region of
Aswan.
Shout for joy, O heavens;
rejoice, O earth;
burst into song, O mountains!
For the LORD comforts his people
and will have compassion on his
afflicted ones.
Isaiah 49: 8 - 13

Pet of the week, Piper

 Piper is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and this week's pet.  This breed has been described as outgoing, playful, bold, protective, tenacious, and friendly.

I met Piper at our local Pet Smart store.  Pet Smart stores provide a full line of pet supplies for all pets. In addition to supplies, they offer training and partner with the Local Humane Society for pet adoptions.

If you consider adopting a rescue animal you might visit your local Pet Smart store.

This picture is not able capture the beauty of my friends. They are simply gorgeous. Camera phones are not designed to catch the invisible character of love, compassion and kindness.

Tasty Tuesday

Hospital food... I think it must be a daunting task to prepare nutritious and tasty food for hundreds of patients in the hospital. Here is one of the meals my husband enjoyed during his stay in the hospital.  Grateful he was able to be released after one night in the hospital.

Friendship Friday

I am fascinated by the differences between the friendships of women and men.

 Many of "J's" friendships can trace their beginning to work relationships.  Over the years, the friendships have deepened as they share the joys and challenges of work, marriage, and parenting.  Now our visits include swapping stories regarding marriages, grandchildren, surgeries, illness, retirement, and our faith in Christ.

I love when they reminisce about the lessons that they have learned over the years.  They have gained  wisdom both personally and professionally.

Tasty Tuesday

Hospital food...
Arriving at the hospital at 5:30 a.m, I had planned for a simple breakfast. Water and apple....Around noon, I had real hunger pains.  I decided to go the hospital cafeteria.

Monday Musings...

"Nobody  ever outgrows Scripture
the book widens and deepens with our years."
Charles Spurgeon

How lovely

"How lovely is your dwelling place,
O LORD Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints.
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest  for herself,
where she may have her young -
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and
my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your
house;
they are ever praising you. Selah

Blessed are those whose strength
is in you,
who have set their hearts on
pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of
Baca,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it
with pools.
They go strength to strength,
till each appears before God in
Zion.

Hear my prayer, O LORD God
Almighty;
List to me, O God of Jacob
Selah

Look upon our shield, O God;
look with favor on your anointed
one.

Better is one day in your courts;
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in
the house of the my God
than dwell in the tents of the
wicked.

For the LORD God is a sun and
shield;
the LORD bestow favor and
honor;
no good thing does he withhold
form those who walk is
blameless.
O LORD Almighty,
blessed in the man who trusts in
you."
Psalm 84: 1 - 13

Pet of the week, Teddy

This week's pet is Teddy the Dachshund.  This breed has been described as curious, lively, charming and brave. This breed also loves to snuggle under blankets. Typically they are great family pets.

I met Teddy and his owner while walking at a local park. I wish I had be able to capture the cuteness of this dog.

 For the past few days, it was been cold. I think Teddy's coat looks very snazzy. What do you think?

Friendship Friday

A few years ago, the editor of More magazine asked the question, Can Friendship Last Forever?  Hmm. What do you think? Do you remain close to your high school or college friends?  Or maybe you list your co-workers as friends.

Some of my dearest friends are the people who I have met over the past ten years. God has blessed me some amazing friends. My list of girlfriends  are from BSF, church, exercise class, crafters, readers, cooks, and my Mah Jonng friends.

More recently, I have become active in my sorority. Once again, God has expanded my circle of friends. When we surround ourselves with positive and like-minded individuals we discover that we they inspire us to be our best selves.

 When we leave the company of individuals ask yourselves this… Do I feel better having spent time with them?  Did I encourage them? Did I learn something new?

If you people want to make you feel less… then they may not be real friends.

 The article from More magazine also stated “Recent research shows that people replace half of their close friends every seven years.” If people make you feel bad, you may need to get new friends.
These amazing friends are beautiful
inside and out.
I love when we get together.
